Death anniversary of Nigar Ahmed observed

The ninth death anniversary of Pakistani women’s rights activist Nigar Ahmed was observed on Tuesday.
She was one of the first feminists in Pakistan and known for founding the Aurat Foundation in Lahore in 1985.
Nigar Ahmed was recipient of many national awards for her work. She was the first to ensure female empowerment by encouraging women to play political roles in local bodies.
She passed away on this day in 2017.
