Death anniversary of poet Hafeez Hoshiarpuri today

The 53rd death anniversary of the eminent Urdu poet Hafeez Hoshiarpuri is being observed today.
Born on 5 January 1912 in Diwanpura, Jhang district, Hafeez Hoshiarpuri initially wrote poems and translated verses, but he became known for his Ghazals.
Hoshiarpuri’s collection of poems, “Maqam Ghazal,” was published after his death.
He died on this day in 1973 in Karachi after a prolonged illness.
