Punjab Approves ‘One Punjab, One Standard’ Policy for Uniform Infrastructure

Lahore (The Nation) — February 25, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved a province-wide infrastructure standardisation initiative titled “One Punjab, One Standard,” aimed at creating uniform development patterns and a cohesive urban identity across the province.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by the chief minister, where officials presented proposals to harmonise infrastructure and design standards. Under the new policy, roads, footpaths, green belts and public signboards throughout Punjab will follow a single, standardised design framework.

The meeting also endorsed plans to introduce uniform architectural models for public institutions, including schools, hospitals and bus stops. Authorities discussed forming an autonomous body to supervise implementation and ensure compliance with the proposed standards.
In addition, officials reviewed proposals to regulate the design of roadside kiosks and small shop cabins along highways, with the objective of improving visual consistency and urban order.

Maryam Nawaz directed departments concerned to prepare a comprehensive design manual to guide execution of the initiative. She stated that consistent planning and disciplined infrastructure would help establish a recognisable provincial identity from major urban centres to smaller districts.
According to the chief minister, unified road and public facility designs are expected to enhance both aesthetic appeal and functional efficiency, contributing to an organised and structured development model across Punjab.
