Punjab Government Waives All Motorbike Registration and Transfer Fees

In a significant relief measure for millions of motorcyclists, the Punjab government has completely abolished registration and transfer fees for all motorbikes in the province.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the decision as part of a broader relief package aimed at easing the financial burden on common citizens amid rising fuel costs. The waiver applies immediately to new registrations as well as ownership transfers of motorbikes throughout Punjab.

According to the announcement, previously applicable charges, including registration fees ranging from Rs1,000 to Rs2,500 and transfer fees around Rs550–Rs600, have now been set to zero. This move is expected to benefit a large number of daily commuters, students, and working-class individuals who rely on two-wheelers for transportation.

The government has also introduced a fuel subsidy component under which every registered motorbike owner will receive support equivalent to Rs2,000 per month. This translates to a subsidy of Rs100 per litre on up to 20 litres of petrol, helping offset the impact of recent fuel price adjustments.

Provincial spokesperson Rao Dilshad confirmed the details, stating that the initiative reflects the provincial leadership’s commitment to providing tangible relief to the masses. The subsidy scheme is set to take effect shortly, with implementation details expected to be shared through the Excise & Taxation Department.

Motorcycle owners are advised to visit their nearest Excise & Taxation office or check the official Punjab Excise portal for updated procedures regarding free registration and transfer processes. Further guidelines on claiming the monthly subsidy will be issued soon.

This package comes alongside other provincial relief steps, including free public transport in some segments, as the government continues efforts to support citizens facing economic pressures.
