Indian Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign policy, describing it as a “wild pendulum” swinging erratically, causing serious damage to India’s national interests.

In a statement posted on social media, he referred to two recent developments. On one hand, there are reports of the lifting of bans imposed on Chinese companies after the 2020 Galwan clash, which he termed as “rolling out the red carpet for China.” In a sarcastic tone, he remarked, “How deep is the red colour in Modi’s red eye?”

Kharge also criticised the daily comments and tariff pressure from US President Donald Trump regarding India’s imports of Russian oil. Quoting Modi’s famous slogan “Main desh ko jhukne nahi doonga” (I will not let the country bow down), Kharge said that what is happening today is the complete opposite.

He accused the Modi government of bowing to foreign pressure, particularly from Trump, which is weakening India’s strategic autonomy and policy of non-alignment.

Kharge demanded that foreign policy be guided solely by national interest rather than the desire to please foreign leaders.
