For many residents, safety is a constant worry. There are frequent accounts of increasing street crime, including robberies occurring in broad daylight and incidents of kidnapping for ransom. While experiences can vary from area to area, the perception of insecurity is strong enough that it influences how people move around the city—often avoiding travel at night or remaining cautious even during the day.
Traffic congestion is another major issue. With increasing population and limited infrastructure planning, Muridke’s roads are impossible. Road accidents, further adding to public concern where daily road accidents deaths are fearful.
Sanitation and cleanliness also remain challenges. In several parts of the city, visible pollution, clogged drainage, and unhealthy living conditions. These issues affect not only the environment but also the overall quality of life for residents.

Muridke’s situation is further complicated by its geopolitical sensitivity. Due to its proximity to the eastern border with India and perceived strategic relevance, it has historically been referenced during periods of tension between India and Pakistan. Statements and rhetoric in regional media have, at times, included claims or warnings about potential strikes targeting alleged militant infrastructure in or around Muridke. Such narratives—whether political or strategic—can heighten anxiety among residents and contribute to an ongoing sense of uncertainty.
Despite these challenges, Muridke remains home to many families and businesses that continue to operate and adapt. Yet, the combination of safety concerns, infrastructure limitations, and external pressures makes it a place where caution is often advised—particularly for visitors or those considering a longer stay.
