Air-raid sirens rang out in southern Israel, particularly around the Dead Sea region, as Iran unleashed successive barrages of ballistic missiles and drones in direct retaliation for earlier U.S.-Israeli strikes deep inside Iranian territory.

The Israel Defense Forces Home Front Command reported that sirens activated in the Dead Sea zone encompassing Ein Bokek, Ein Gedi, Massada, Neveh Zohar, Kalia, Almog and surrounding communities as well as the southern Negev, Arava valley, parts of the Gaza Envelope and Judea. Alerts also extended northward to central and northern regions including Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa and the Galilee during multiple overlapping waves.

Air defense batteries including Iron Dome, Arrow and David’s Sling engaged incoming threats, producing visible interception flashes and explosions across the sky. While the multilayered system intercepted most projectiles, officials emphasized that protection remains effective yet not completely hermetic, urging residents to stay close to protected spaces or shelters throughout the alerts.

Israel declared a nationwide state of emergency, shut its airspace to civilian traffic and called up reservists. No confirmed direct missile impacts or casualties have been reported in the Dead Sea or southern zones so far, though shrapnel from intercepted projectiles caused limited damage in other areas earlier in the day. Houthi forces in Yemen are also believed to have contributed to some southern alerts by launching ballistic projectiles.

The conflict has widened dramatically across the region with Iranian missiles striking or being intercepted near U.S. military facilities in Bahrain including the Fifth Fleet headquarters, as well as sites in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.

Smoke from interceptions lit up the sky over southern Israel during the latest barrages while mobile Red Alert notifications warned residents in the Dead Sea area and beyond to seek immediate shelter. The Dead Sea landscape around Ein Bokek and Massada became one of the focal points for the southern alerts as missiles streaked overhead.

The situation continues to evolve rapidly with the possibility of additional Iranian launch waves. Authorities are urging strict adherence to Home Front Command guidance.
