(E! News) — September 04, 2026: Katy Perry has spoken publicly about the difficult period surrounding her 2025 breakup with actor Orlando Bloom, saying the experience was particularly challenging while she was on her Lifetimes Tour.
In an interview with PEOPLE published this week, Perry reflected on the period after representatives confirmed that she and Bloom had separated following nearly a decade together. The former couple share their six-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove.

“It was probably the hardest time. My friends were all hanging out back home. I was crying and just feeling far away,” Perry said, describing how she felt while continuing to perform on tour.
Perry said the experience ultimately pushed her to reconnect with her work and sense of purpose. She credited the tour with helping her move forward during a difficult period.
“I learned how to step back into my purpose,” she said, adding that the tour also brought an unexpected change in her personal life. “I got the greatest gift from this tour: I got to meet the love of my life.”

The singer said the end of her relationship with Bloom also gave her an opportunity to reflect on what she had learned from their time together.
“I wouldn’t have stayed in something for nine years if there wasn’t really important things to learn. Each relationship is a teacher, right?” Perry said. “I had to let it go so I could move forward.”
Perry’s comments come as she promotes Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris, a concert film documenting her 2025 world tour. The tour began in April 2025, marking her first major world tour in seven years, and included 91 shows across five continents, according to PEOPLE.
She also acknowledged that the period was not easy despite the success of the tour.
“Not every day was easy. Look, last year was really hard,” Perry said. “And I just persevered. I just kept going forward.”

The singer has also spoken about how becoming a mother affected her ability to return to touring. She said she had spent significant time caring for Daisy and had also faced the disruption caused by the pandemic before resuming an extensive international tour.
Perry and Bloom began their relationship in 2016 and became engaged in 2019. They welcomed Daisy in 2020 before their representatives confirmed their separation in July 2025. PEOPLE previously reported that the two intended to remain committed to raising their daughter together with stability and mutual respect.

While Perry has moved forward with Trudeau, Bloom has also continued with his personal life following the separation. Perry’s latest remarks, however, primarily focus on her own experience of navigating the breakup and finding a renewed sense of direction through her music career and motherhood.
The new interview comes shortly after Perry’s concert film arrived in cinemas and IMAX for a limited run, bringing renewed attention to the tour that she says helped her through a challenging chapter of her life.
