Masked Intruder Rams Car into Delhi Assembly, Throws Ink at Speaker’s Vehicle in Daring Breach

India: In a major security breach at the Delhi Legislative Assembly, a car driven by a masked man smashed through one of the boundary gates on Monday afternoon, triggering a high-alert response from police and security personnel.

The incident occurred around 2 pm when the vehicle, bearing a Uttar Pradesh registration number, forced its way through Gate No. 2 and entered the Assembly premises before speeding away. According to officials, the driver headed straight towards the office of Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, stopped near the porch, and placed a flower bouquet there. He then reportedly threw ink at the Speaker’s car parked in the vicinity before making a quick retreat and fleeing the scene.

A senior Delhi Secretariat official confirmed the sequence of events, describing it as a deliberate act that caused immediate panic within the high-security zone. “The driver proceeded towards the office of Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta and placed a flower bouquet near the porch before retreating. He also threw ink at the Speaker’s car,” the official said.

No injuries were reported in the incident, and the intruder managed to escape despite the presence of security personnel. Delhi Police have launched a probe and are examining CCTV footage from the Assembly complex and surrounding areas to identify the masked man and the vehicle involved.

The breach comes just days after the Delhi Assembly received multiple bomb threats via email during the recently concluded Budget session. Speaker Vijender Gupta had personally informed the House about the threats, which mentioned possible explosive devices and led to intensive searches by police, bomb squads, and dog teams. Those threats had already heightened security measures across the Assembly premises and nearby areas, including the Vidhan Sabha Metro station.

Authorities are now investigating whether Monday’s gate-ramming incident is linked to the earlier bomb threats or if it represents a separate security lapse. Police have registered a case and are questioning witnesses while tracing the UP-registered vehicle.

The incident has once again raised questions about the effectiveness of perimeter security at the sensitive Assembly complex, which houses the legislative heart of the national capital. Senior police officials have assured a thorough investigation and vowed to strengthen protocols to prevent similar breaches in the future.
