Pakistan Conducts Precision Airstrikes in Afghanistan’s Paktika Province, Targeting Militant Hideouts

20260222_015922

Pakistani fighter jets carried out precision airstrikes late Saturday in Afghanistan’s Barmal district of Paktika province, according to reports from Afghan media.

The strikes, described by Pakistani-affiliated sources as intelligence-based operations, reportedly targeted terrorist camps and high-value militant infrastructure linked to groups such as the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Multiple locations in Paktika, along with mentions of Nangarhar, Paktia, and Khost provinces, were hit in what pro-Pakistan accounts called a successful dismantling of militant bases.

Visuals shared on X (formerly Twitter) showed explosions and smoke rising from targeted areas in Barmal, with claims of destroyed compounds and casualties among militants. Afghan media outlets, confirmed activity in the region.

The operation fits an established pattern of cross-border tensions along the Durand Line. Pakistan has repeatedly accused Afghanistan’s Taliban authorities of providing safe havens to TTP fighters responsible for attacks inside Pakistan.

The strikes come amid ongoing friction between Islamabad and Kabul, with mutual accusations of harboring terrorists fueling periodic escalations.
