Pakistan Navy Demonstrates Combat Readiness in Major North Arabian Sea Exercise

The Pakistan Navy has showcased its operational readiness and combat preparedness through a comprehensive naval exercise conducted in the North Arabian Sea, according to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday.
The large-scale drill integrated both conventional firepower and advanced unmanned systems, aligning with the demands of modern naval warfare. A key highlight was the successful live firing of the LY-80(N) Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) from a Vertical Launching System at extended range. The missile accurately engaged and neutralized an aerial target, validating the long-range effectiveness of the Navy’s modern air defense capabilities and demonstrating robust layered protection against airborne threats.
The exercise also featured precision strikes on surface targets using Loitering Munitions (LM), which successfully engaged and destroyed designated vessels. This underscored the Navy’s enhanced precision strike abilities in contemporary maritime operations, offering high-impact solutions with reduced risk to personnel.
Additionally, successful open-sea trials of an Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) were carried out, marking a significant advancement in Pakistan’s autonomous naval technology. The trials confirmed the platform’s high-speed performance, exceptional maneuverability, precise navigation, and resilience under challenging conditions, positioning it as a low-risk, high-impact asset with stealth characteristics suitable for tactical interceptor roles.
The exercise was witnessed by Commander Pakistan Fleet, Vice Admiral Abdul Munib. Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, commended the professionalism and operational excellence of the officers and sailors involved. He reaffirmed the Pakistan Navy’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the country’s maritime borders, protecting national interests, and ensuring seaward defense under all circumstances.
This demonstration comes as part of the Navy’s ongoing modernization efforts, which emphasize the integration of advanced systems, including Chinese-origin platforms, to address evolving regional security challenges in the maritime domain.
The successful execution of these tests highlights Pakistan Navy’s growing multi-domain prowess and readiness to counter diverse threats in the North Arabian Sea and beyond.
