Prosecutors seek death penalty for ex-PM Hasina over protest crackdown

In Bangladesh, prosecutors have demanded death sentence for former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina over a deadly crackdown on student-led protests last year.

Sheikh Hasina Wajid, who has fled to India, is on trial for crimes against humanity for the death of over fourteen hundred people who were killed during weeks of unrest that ended her fifteen year rule.

According to a leaked audio clip, she ordered security forces to use lethal weapons against protesters.
