Rawalpindi (APP) — September 01, 2026: Health authorities have intensified anti-dengue activities across Rawalpindi, registering 1,973 FIRs, sealing 537 premises and recovering 124,341 mosquito larvae during surveillance operations.
According to the latest statistical brief issued by the District Health Authority (DHA) Rawalpindi, six dengue cases have been confirmed in the district so far this year, with no dengue-related deaths reported.

No new confirmed infection was recorded in August, while four cases were reported in July from Dhoke Hassu Janobi, CTR-15, Kotha Kallan and Kountrila.
Health teams have screened 3,450 people during the year. Three patients suspected of having dengue remain admitted at municipal health facilities, while the authorities said there is currently no active confirmed dengue patient.
The latest figures show that surveillance teams have continued extensive field operations despite the limited number of confirmed cases. A force of 1,400 personnel, comprising 415 outdoor and 985 indoor workers, was deployed for monitoring registered high-risk areas.

According to the health authorities, teams inspected more than 4.2 million residential premises and 1.4 million outdoor locations. The surveillance identified 106,993 houses with positive dengue indicators.
The highest larval detection rates were reported in Union Council Girja, Gulistan Colony and Rahimabad. Other areas where dengue larvae were detected included Dhoke Hassu, Morgah, Dhoke Mangtal, Kulyal, Kamalabad, Dheri Hasanabad, Chak Jalaldin and Chaklala.
Authorities have also taken legal and administrative action against violations of anti-dengue standard operating procedures. A total of 1,778 challans were issued, while fines amounting to Rs2.124 million were imposed on those found creating potential mosquito breeding sites.

The latest figures represent a further increase in enforcement activity compared with figures released earlier in August. On August 24, officials reported six confirmed cases and said more than 4.13 million houses had been inspected, with 107,661 larval clusters eliminated. Authorities also reported a 91.2 percent reduction in confirmed cases compared with the corresponding period of 2025.
The district administration has maintained surveillance in identified hotspots as the monsoon season continues. Earlier reports identified 17,859 registered dengue hotspots across Rawalpindi and called for continued monitoring of areas where stagnant water can provide breeding sites.
Health officials have repeatedly urged residents to prevent water from accumulating in homes and surrounding areas, particularly in containers, rooftops and other locations that can provide suitable breeding conditions for mosquitoes.

To coordinate the response, authorities have held 29 District Emergency Response Committee meetings and 97 Tehsil Emergency Response Committee meetings during the year.
While the absence of new confirmed cases in August represents a positive development, the large number of larvae detected during field surveillance indicates that preventive and monitoring measures remain necessary across the district.
