The President of the United States is generally perceived as a tempestuous figure. Uncertainty still prevails, but there remains confidence that a positive outcome may eventually emerge.
At home, however, we remain embroiled in our own irredeemably flawed situation.

In times of elections and political unrest, there have been incidents of indiscriminate violence. Bullets have been sprayed, leaving many injured and others dead. Such developments continue to raise concerns about law and order and political stability.
On the 9th of this month, the Awami Action Committee of Azad Kashmir announced a protest march towards Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Kashmir. The demonstrations reportedly extended towards Kohala, resulting in road blockades that disrupted incoming traffic from Punjab and effectively gridlocked large parts of the area, causing difficulties for commuters and affecting daily life.
To many observers, this appeared to be a repeat of previous episodes in which governments ultimately yielded to the demands of pressure groups. The concern is that such agitation may be intended to force the government into making concessions. Incidents involving attacks on police officers and other uniformed personnel have become a recurring feature of such confrontations, which many view as deeply troubling in all their forms and manifestations.

The government appears determined to deal firmly with what it regards as subversive elements. Among the demands raised are free electricity and subsidized essential commodities. In the recently announced budget, funds amounting to approximately Rs80 billion have reportedly been earmarked as electricity subsidies.
One of the more controversial demands attributed to these groups is the removal of the pledge of allegiance to Pakistan from the oath administered to elected members of the Azad Kashmir Assembly. For many, such a proposal appears unusual and difficult to reconcile with the constitutional framework governing the region.
At the same time, comparisons have been drawn with Swat and its people, who endured immense hardship during years of conflict and displacement. Many residents were forced from their homes and livelihoods, living under difficult conditions for extended periods. The sacrifices made by the people of Swat deserve recognition and support.

In all fairness, the government should also consider allocating substantial resources towards the rehabilitation and development of Swat, helping restore the prosperity and beauty for which the region has long been known. The spectacular valley of Swat remains one of Pakistan’s greatest natural treasures and deserves focused attention and investment.

Public policy should ultimately be guided by facts, statistics, and equitable treatment, ensuring that all regions affected by conflict and hardship receive the support they rightfully deserve.
No person, regardless of caste, creed, or political affiliation, is entitled to, or should ever be allowed to, pillage or vandalize the assets of this sacred land. Such actions undermine the very foundations of society and weaken the collective interests of the nation. Respect for public property, institutions, and the rule of law must remain paramount under all circumstances.
Long live Pakistan. Long live Azad Kashmir.
