LAHORE — January 6, 2026: Important facts have come to light during the initial investigation into the incident of a student of the University of Lahore (UoL) attempting to jump from the building.

According to the police sources, the student had talked to someone on the phone for about 27 minutes before jumping from the building. However, the student herself deleted the record of the last call before her tragic fall.

According to the initial investigations, the student had reached the university the morning of the incident, but did not attend the class. Police say that she was under mental stress and was feeling extremely dissatisfied with her academic results. The investigation has so far revealed that the student had scored 18 out of 35 in a test, which was very distressing for her.
According to police sources, the student had shared her ‘low marks’ with her father and brother, after which her mental state is likely to have been further affected. The investigation is currently ongoing with authorities looking into it from various angles to ascertain the motives behind the incident.
Police further say that the investigation will be taken forward in the light of the student’s statement, while the footage of all CCTV cameras installed in the university and its surroundings has been taken into custody so that the activities before and after the incident can be reviewed.

According to the police officials, no application has been submitted by the student’s family for any legal action yet. However, the investigation will continue keeping in mind all aspects as per the law.
On the other hand, the student who attempted suicide is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital. According to the hospital administration, she has suffered a severe brain injury while fractures in her back and knees have also been diagnosed. Doctors say that the student’s condition is critical but under control, and she is being kept under full medical supervision.
According to an earlier report by Baaghi TV, the 21-year-old Fatima, a student of D. Pharmacy, had jumped from the second floor of the university building, causing a wave of concern among the students and staff. A similar incident had previously occurred, leading to questions about the mental health and support system of the students at the educational institution.
