Veteran Bollywood Actor Ashish Vidyarthi and Wife Rupali Barua Injured in Accident

India: Senior Bollywood actor Ashish Vidyarthi and his wife, fashion entrepreneur Rupali Barua, sustained minor injuries in a late-night road accident in Guwahati on Friday.

The incident occurred around midnight in the city’s Zoo Road area, near The Guwahati Address Hotel. According to police reports, the couple had just finished dinner and were crossing the road when a speeding motorcycle struck them. The impact injured both Vidyarthi and Barua, as well as the motorcyclist, who was seriously hurt.

Local residents quickly alerted authorities, and Geetanagar Police Station officials arrived at the scene. The injured biker was rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, while Vidyarthi and Barua received treatment at a private facility, reportedly Apollo Hospital.

In a video update shared on social media early Saturday, Vidyarthi reassured fans that the injuries were minor and there was no cause for alarm. “Rupali and I are well. We are under observation but doing well. Thank you for your love,” he captioned the post.

Speaking directly in the video, the 62-year-old actor said: “Yes, it happened—we faced minor injuries while crossing the street when a bike hit us. But all’s well. Nothing to sensationalise.” He added that Barua was under precautionary observation, while he had only a small injury and was fully mobile. Vidyarthi also noted that the motorcyclist had regained consciousness.

The actor, known for his prolific roles across Hindi, South Indian, and regional cinema, married Barua, an Assam-based entrepreneur, in 2023. The news prompted concern from fans and industry colleagues, but Vidyarthi’s prompt clarification has eased worries.

Police have seized the motorcycle and are investigating the circumstances of the accident. Both Vidyarthi and Barua are reported to be in stable condition and recovering.
