ISLAMABAD (Independent News Pakistan) — October 01, 2026: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong has outlined a broad agenda for expanding cooperation with Pakistan, placing economic development, CPEC 2.0, social projects and strategic coordination among the key areas of future engagement.

Speaking at a reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, Ambassador Jiang described the bilateral relationship as one built over decades of political communication and mutual support. He said the two countries had remained closely connected throughout their 75-year diplomatic relationship.

The ambassador described China and Pakistan as “all-weather strategic cooperative partners and ironclad brothers”, while stressing that Beijing was prepared to work with Islamabad on practical areas of cooperation.

According to figures presented by Jiang, bilateral trade reached $16.44 billion during the January-July period, representing a 13.4 percent increase from a year earlier. He also cited agricultural trade of approximately $830 million during January-August, with growth of 45 percent year-on-year.

China is also seeking greater cooperation under the next phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Jiang said Beijing was ready to work with Pakistan on industrial development, agriculture and mining while supporting the upgraded CPEC 2.0 framework and further economic cooperation.

The Chinese envoy also pointed to a number of proposed social initiatives. These include the establishment of 100 clean-water stations, the upgrading of 1,000 smart classrooms and the provision of 100,000 school kits in Balochistan. Cooperation is also expected to continue in health, education, climate-related areas and exchanges involving universities, think tanks, young people and women.

Jiang further said China intended to strengthen cooperation with Pakistan in defence, security and counter-terrorism, while continuing coordination on international and regional issues.

In his speech, the ambassador also highlighted China’s economic and technological development. He cited official figures showing 4.7 percent year-on-year GDP growth during the first half of the year and said renewable sources accounted for 41.2 percent of China’s electricity generation during the same period. He also referred to the expansion of electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, photovoltaic products, artificial intelligence and robotics.

At the national level, Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for continued efforts to achieve the country’s economic targets and maintain progress under the 15th Five-Year Plan. In his National Day reception address, Xi also reiterated Beijing’s stated commitment to its four major global initiatives and to a peaceful foreign policy.

China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun separately highlighted the country’s technological and green-development progress, saying China’s high-quality development was creating opportunities for other countries. He cited the country’s innovation capacity and expansion of renewable-energy infrastructure.

The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan has also continued engagement with Chinese businesses, community representatives and media organisations in Pakistan. Ambassador Jiang recently called for continued contributions to China-Pakistan cooperation and closer people-to-people links.

The latest diplomatic engagement comes as Pakistan and China mark 75 years of formal diplomatic relations. Both governments have separately reaffirmed their intention to advance CPEC 2.0 and broaden cooperation in areas including infrastructure, trade, agriculture, technology and connectivity.
