Pakistan Summons Indian Diplomat Over Killing of Two Civilians by BSF

Pakistan on Saturday summoned the Indian Chargé d’Affaires to lodge a strong protest over the killing of two Pakistani civilians by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) in the Bedian sector along the international border.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Indian diplomat over the incident that took place on October 2 near Ladhar village in Kasur district.
According to Pakistani security sources, BSF personnel opened fire without warning on three unarmed local residents who had moved a few steps beyond a border pillar. Two men, identified as Azmat Rasool and Mohsin Jutt, were killed, while a third person sustained injuries.
Pakistan rejected any attempt to describe the deceased as “infiltrators,” saying the use of force was unprovoked, unjustified and disproportionate.
The Foreign Office said the incident amounted to a serious violation of fundamental human rights, bilateral border arrangements and established standard operating procedures.
Islamabad called on India to conduct an immediate, transparent and credible investigation into the incident, take disciplinary and legal action against those found responsible, and share the findings with Pakistan.
Pakistan also urged New Delhi to exercise maximum restraint and take effective measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
