Bomb Threat Reported at Mumbai’s Taj Mahal Palace Hotel

India: Mumbai Police received a telephonic bomb threat on Sunday targeting the iconic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, one of the city’s most prominent landmarks, prompting an immediate security response.

According to officials, the caller claimed that the Taj Hotel “would be blown up.” Police have launched an investigation into the threat and are treating it seriously, though no explosive devices have been found so far.

Security personnel swiftly cordoned off the area around the heritage hotel in Colaba, with teams from the Mumbai Police, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), and other agencies conducting thorough searches of the premises. Guests and staff were evacuated as a precautionary measure while sweeps continued.

“The call was received this afternoon. We are investigating the matter and have deployed teams for verification,” a senior police official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

No group has claimed responsibility for the latest threat, and authorities have not disclosed the origin of the call.

Traffic in the vicinity has been diverted, and additional forces have been deployed to maintain order. Police urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
