India Conducts “Operation Shield” Civil Defense Drills Across Eastern Punjab Border Districts

On the directives of India’s Ministry of Home Affairs, large-scale civil defense mock drills under “Operation Shield” are being conducted today across major districts of eastern Punjab, particularly in border cities adjoining Pakistan including Amritsar, Ferozepur, Ludhiana, and Pathankot.

The primary objective of these exercises is to assess the preparedness of both civilians and administrative authorities in the event of any emergency or external attack. The drills are also aimed at demonstrating practical measures to ensure public safety and awareness during wartime scenarios.

As part of the operation, sirens will be sounded at 8:00 PM, followed by a complete blackout in the designated districts. Authorities have urged residents to switch off all lights, while traffic movement on roads will also be temporarily halted.

In sensitive border districts such as Amritsar, Ferozepur, and Gurdaspur, special rehearsals are being conducted to counter potential drone and missile threats. Additionally, drone operation exercises are also being carried out in these areas as part of the preparedness strategy.
