India Successfully Tests Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) Technology

India: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) today successfully demonstrated Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) technology at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha, at approximately 10:45 AM.
This key milestone validates the advanced air-breathing propulsion system that uses solid fuel in a ducted ramjet setup. By utilising atmospheric oxygen for combustion, SFDR delivers sustained high speeds, longer range, and greater efficiency than traditional rocket motors.
All mission objectives were achieved, with performance confirmed through telemetry, radar, and electro-optical tracking systems.
The test positions India among a handful of nations mastering this technology and directly advances development of next-generation long-range air-to-air missiles, including the Astra Mk-3, offering superior no-escape zones and beyond-visual-range combat edge.
