Iran’s Supreme Leader Orders Military Ceasefire Amid US-Brokered Two-Week Truce

Iran’s Supreme Leader has instructed all military units to immediately cease fire, according to a statement broadcast on state-run IRIB television.

The directive explicitly notes that “this is not the end of the war,” but emphasizes that all military branches must comply with the order to halt operations. It comes shortly after announcements of a temporary two-week ceasefire agreement.

US President Donald Trump confirmed the truce, stating that American attacks would be suspended for two weeks provided Iran allows complete, immediate, and safe passage through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. Iran has agreed to the terms, with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi indicating that safe transit would be managed under Iranian military oversight during the pause.

Israel has also consented to the ceasefire, which aims to halt strikes while negotiations proceed toward a more permanent resolution. Talks are expected to begin soon in Islamabad, Pakistan, building on a 10-point peace proposal described by Trump as a workable basis for ending the conflict.
