ISRO Confirms Anomaly in PSLV-C62 Mission Rocket Deviates from Flight Path

Indian Space Research Organisation ISRO has confirmed a major anomaly during today’s PSLV-C62 launch the rocket deviated from its intended flight path resulting in mission failure.

The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle lifted off successfully at 1018 IST from Satish Dhawan Space Centre carrying the primary hyperspectral Earth observation satellite EOS-N1 also known as Anvesha along with 15 co-passenger satellites from domestic and international customers.

The vehicle performed normally through the first two stages and up to the end of the third stage PS3 however towards the conclusion of the third stage increased disturbances were observed in the vehicle’s roll rates followed by a clear deviation from the planned trajectory.

ISRO Chairman Dr V Narayanan addressed the issue soon after stating the performance remained as expected until close to the end of the third stage beyond that more disturbances appeared leading to the observed deviation in flight path detailed data analysis is underway and findings will be shared at the earliest.

In an official update ISRO stated PSLV-C62 mission encountered an anomaly during end of the PS3 stage a detailed analysis has been initiated.

All 16 satellites are believed to be lost as they could not be placed into their designated orbits this marks a significant setback for the reliable PSLV often called India’s workhorse rocket which has completed over 60 successful missions in the past including landmark endeavours like Chandrayaan-1 Mangalyaan and Aditya-L1.

This is the second consecutive anomaly for PSLV following the 2025 PSLV-C61 failure ISRO is expected to constitute a formal Failure Analysis Committee to determine the root cause and implement corrective measures.

The Indian space community and supporters express full confidence in ISRO’s ability to learn from this event and return stronger for future missions.
