Pakistan Rejects Indian Claims at UNSC, Calls for Peaceful Resolution of Kashmir Dispute

Pakistan strongly rejected India’s statements during a United Nations Security Council debate on the peaceful settlement of disputes, accusing New Delhi of distorting facts, violating international law and ignoring UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.
Delivering Pakistan’s right of reply, Counsellor Saima Saleem said Jammu and Kashmir remains an internationally recognized dispute and cannot be described as India’s internal matter. She stressed that Security Council resolutions on the issue remain valid and must be implemented.
Pakistan also criticized India’s decision regarding the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it inconsistent with international law and warning that using water as a political tool could undermine regional peace and stability.
The Pakistani delegation reaffirmed the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, highlighted Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, and accused India of supporting destabilizing activities in the region.
Pakistan further expressed concern over the treatment of minorities in India and said lasting peace in South Asia depends on adherence to the UN Charter, international law and UN Security Council resolutions.
The delegation urged India to implement UN Security Council Resolution 2788, honour its international commitments and engage sincerely in efforts aimed at the peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
