Rubio and Jaishankar to Hold Key Meeting in February

As soon as Sergio Gor assumed the position of US Ambassador to India, the ice between India and the United States began to melt. Yesterday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar over the phone and extended New Year greetings to him. US Ambassador Sergio Gor confirmed the meeting between the two leaders on social media and stated that an important meeting between the two foreign ministers will also take place in February.

India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, after the phone call, wrote on the social media platform X that he had a good and positive conversation with the US Secretary of State. He said that they discussed topics including trade, minerals, nuclear cooperation, defense, and energy, while agreeing to remain in constant contact on other issues as well.

On the other hand, according to a spokesperson from the US State Department, Secretary Rubio spoke about increasing US-India nuclear cooperation, creating opportunities for American companies, securing supply chains for energy and minerals, advancing progress in bilateral trade agreement negotiations, strengthening economic cooperation, and reaffirming the commitment to maintaining a free and open zone in the Indo-Pacific. The two leaders also exchanged views on regional developments.
