SCO National Coordinators Hold Virtual Meeting Ahead of Bishkek Summit

The Council of National Coordinators of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states held a virtual meeting from August 10 to 12, 2026, under the chairmanship of Kyrgyzstan, to finalise preparations for the upcoming SCO Heads of State Summit.

According to an official SCO statement, the meeting was conducted via videoconference. The participants continued work on the package of documents for the Council of Heads of State meeting scheduled for September 1, 2026, in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. They also discussed current issues of cooperation within the organisation.

The SCO currently comprises ten full member states: Belarus, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. National coordinators from all member states took part in the online session.

India was represented by its National Coordinator for the SCO, Alok Amitabh Dimri (Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs). Pakistan was represented by its National Coordinator, Ambassador Farhat Ayesha.

The September 1 summit in Bishkek will be held under Kyrgyzstan’s SCO chairmanship. It forms a key part of the organisation’s calendar and is expected to adopt important documents related to regional security, economic cooperation, connectivity and institutional development, marking continued progress under the theme associated with the SCO’s 25th anniversary period.

This virtual meeting of national coordinators is one of the regular preparatory sessions held to coordinate positions and finalise the agenda before the high-level leaders’ gathering.
