Trainee Pilot Escapes Serious Injury as Redbird Training Aircraft Crash-Lands in Maharashtra

India: A training aircraft operated by Redbird Flight Training Academy crash-landed near Baramati airport in Pune district on Wednesday morning, clipping a light pole during an emergency descent before coming to rest in a field at Gojubavi village.

The sole occupant, a trainee pilot, sustained only minor injuries and walked away from the wreckage. No other casualties were reported. Emergency services and police responded quickly to the scene, where the small aircraft was later seen partially covered and secured.

The incident occurred around 8:50 a.m. when the two-seater aircraft encountered a technical issue at low altitude, forcing the pilot to attempt an emergency landing. The plane struck a light pole during the approach before hitting the ground.

This marks the latest in a series of incidents involving Redbird aircraft at the Baramati facility, which has faced repeated scrutiny over safety concerns. Previous events include multiple emergency landings and crashes in recent years, often linked to technical issues during training flights.

Authorities from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and local police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the crash.
