US Special Envoy Sergio Gor Meets Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in Colombo
Top US diplomat Sergio Gor, serving as Special Envoy for South and Central Asia and US Ambassador to India, held a key meeting today with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake during his official visit to Colombo.
The handshake and discussions come as part of Gor’s regional tour from March 19-24, 2026, focused on strengthening bilateral ties, economic cooperation, maritime security in the Indian Ocean, strategic investments, and commercial opportunities. The US Embassy in Sri Lanka welcomed the visit, emphasizing reaffirmation of support for Sri Lanka’s sovereignty and highlighting “immense opportunity” to deepen the partnership.

This follows Gor’s earlier interaction with President Dissanayake in February 2026 on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, where they discussed expanding US-Sri Lanka economic ties and regional stability.
