By Sindhi poet Zulfiqar Khaki.
You do good!
You do so good,
When at midnight the full-bellied ones make noise,
Then the hungry child starts crying out of fear,
Crying, and his poor, hungry mother feels the pain,
The pain of helplessness, of poverty,
The fear of loneliness!
Then the earth also starts weeping,
And the sky starts screaming,
In such a moment, waking up from sleep,
When you pick up your instrument,
And when you hum a lullaby,
The earth becomes bright and clean,
Flowers start swaying,
Forgetting its pain, even the cuckoo
Starts dancing.
When you sing a song,
When you touch your instrument,
You do so very good,
You fill life with the beautiful color of hope,
You do so very good.
